An immersive laser and sound installation exploring the relationship between light, space, reflection, and perception.

Through the precise motion of laser beams and a mirror system calibrated to the decimal of a degree, Volumetrica unfolds as a geometric choreography of light and sound. Reflections multiply and intersect, folding light into space and transforming emptiness into a dynamic spatial composition.
Rooted in mathematical structures and optical principles, the work generates volumes made of light – spaces that emerge from the interplay of points, trajectories, lines, and intersecting planes.
Here, light does not simply illuminate space: it constructs it, drawing lines, shapes, and volumes that did not previously exist—revealing the invisible.

Echoing Kandinsky’s reflections on point, line, and plane – and his exploration of rhythm and abstraction – Volumetrica invites the audience to move through an immersive environment that continuously shifts with each change in perspective.
Space becomes a perceptual event, redefined by the viewer’s position and gaze, revealing new alignments, depths, and resonances at every angle.

At the core of the installation is an animated sequence of dots, dashes, and silences, drawn on a line-thin canvas. These elements encode, through the physics of reflection, a volumetric language composed of light, time, and rhythm.
The standard version of Volumetrica features nine custom-designed mirrors, each 265 cm long, mounted on a structure engineered to be compatible with standard 30×30 cm aluminum trusses. Its modular design allows the installation to scale along all three axes, making it adaptable to a wide range of spaces and configurations.
This version measures 9×4 x4 meters and includes three laser scanners, twenty-four laser pointers, two haze machines, and a six-channel spatial audio system.
